The Flattening was a major event in the Fear League Squad, and the most damaging and devastating event to ever occur in the server. It occurred on October 19, 2019.
History
The Attack
In the early morning of October 19, 2019, while Chris6d and the rest of the Squadinate Majors were sleeping, Majors Raptor and Sova severely damaged the server, deleting all emojis, wiping numerous channels, and most importantly, kicked over 350 users out of the server, reducing the server's member count from 385 the previous night, to merely 35 the next morning. Following FLSQ War III, which was a major loss for Raptor and Sova, they waited for their chance to strike, and boy did they strike.
Although Raptor coordinated the attacks, Sova was the one who carried them out. They were not banned immediately because, as mentioned, everyone was sleeping at the time. The next morning however, they were both banned, along with associated users Timmy and Deesilsnarf. However, the damage was done. The server was severely devastated and took multiple days to clean up. But most importantly, over 350 users were gone.
Recovery
Some positivity can be drawn from this event. Before the Flattening, the server mostly consisted of dead and inactive accounts, who were there to merely boost the server count. The server was ultimately reaching a decline period of inactivity, similar to what it experienced from mid-2017 until FLSQ War II and the subsequent expansions.
After the Flattening, the server experienced a "rebirth", in a sense, with new, active members slowly coming in, and making the server more active than it was previously. Multiple new channels were created, including #transit, #politics, #sports, and #gaming, to accommodate the interests of new users. The bad admins are long gone, so the server is safe once again.
On July 9, 2020, 264 days after The Flattening, the server officially recovered, having reached its former member count of 385 users. The next day, on July 10, the server hit 400 members, a record milestone which signals the good to come.
Trivia
- The Flattening was originally viewed as a major theater of FLSQ War III, which occurred over a month earlier. However, it is officially recognized as a separate event. Thus, the FLSQ has still never lost any of its seven wars.
